The Season is Here, The Future is Bright

Hello again everyone! Our season began last Friday with an exhibition game against the Missouri Tigers in Columbia. We were happy with the way our team competed as we found ourselves playing even basketball with the Tigers for the first 17 minutes or so. We did lose, so we can’t be too happy and nobody likes moral victories!

The regular season began with a 105-55 win vs. Manhattan Christian on Monday night and a 79-59 Victory over Benedictine on Thursday.

As we begin the long regular season, we are already looking into the future as our program has added a new member to our basketball family. Kyle Schlake a 6’10” center from Firth, Neb., is the newest Bearcat. Kyle averaged 13 pts and 10 rebs for Freeman HS in Nebraska.

Kyle isn’t the first Schlake to associate himself with Northwest Missouri State. His father, brother, and sister all attended Northwest, including Jamie, a recent volleyball Graduate Assistant Coach.

Kyle has a tremendous upside with his size, toughness, high character, and high IQ . He was an honorable mention all-state honoree and was picked to the all-state all-tournament team. He also was picked to the all-state academic team!

We are all very excited about Kyle joining our program and we look forward to watching him succeed in the classroom and on the basketball court for many years to come!

We hope to see everyone out at Bearcat Arena next Tuesday night for our game against Baker University.

See Ya!
