Washington D.C -Day Five

Our last day was a free day to do whatever we wanted in D.C! Throughout the week we visited the national monuments, china town, Georgetown, the riverside, and tons of cool shops and restaurants. We ate really good food and the coffee shops were amazing! I took away a lot from this trip and really grew as a person. I made new friendships with both students and faculty on campus and learned so much about what it means to serve others. I also learned a lot about the stigma placed on people living in poverty and learned the real reasons people may not have a home. I also learned that you shouldn’t say “There’s a homeless person” but instead, “There is an individual who is experiencing homelessness.” Being homeless does not define them and it is just a period in their life.
