Service Day 3: Washington D.C.

The third service day my group teamed up with Capitol Area Food Bank. The food bank was in a large warehouse and well organized. Workers from Ikea were also volunteering that day so we got a lot done. Mostly it was just sorting food into bins depending on their labels. It was interesting to see how many hands donated food goes through before it gets to those in need. A lot of volunteer power is needed to keep these organizations running. Most of the groups we worked with this week only had 2 or 3 paid staff, the rest depends on volunteers. It may have been lacking personal connections, but I still felt like I was contributing to the greater good.
