Since Canvas will not support LTI 1.1 (Learning Tools Interoperability) standard after December 31, 2020, we are upgrading all of the VidGrid integrations to the new standard LTI 1.3 on August 15, 2020. The new standard covers the four integrations below:
- VidGrid Embed: The VidGrid Embed icon will appear in the Rich Content Editor (RCE).
- VidGrid Quizzing: Grades from in-video quizzes are automatically passed back to the grade book upon video completion.
- VidGrid Student Recording: Assign video recording assignments to your students. The instructor receives the video in their course folder as soon as the student approves the recording. These assignments can be added as graded assignments to the grade book.
- VidGrid Portal: Insert the whole VidGrid app experience within the Canvas environment.
In the new standard, VidGrid is automatically able to track a student’s login, students watch the activity on videos without them ever having to actually log in. VidGrid handles all this through Canvas credentials. The interface is the same and the way we use the integrations within Canvas functions is the same. The change is, any quizzes that you’ve added or any student recording assignments will break upon course copy as well as the old ones that were in there. This means that the instructor needs to reset the in-video quizzes and student recording assignments when they copy the course content from the old course sites.
