how to balance your time (in college)

Time is precious.

In college, you have a very different schedule than in high school.

You are not in class from 8 AM – 3:15 PM, but instead you might have a class at 9 AM and another one at 2 PM.

A five hour break is a beautiful thing, but you need to take advantage of it.

Don’t go back to your room and sit on Facebook for an hour followed by a two hour nap.

Use your time wisely.

I have found the best way for me personally to balance my time is to follow a schedule.  On Sunday night, before my week begins, I plan it out.  I look to see what assignments are due when, if I have tests, and what meetings I need to attend.

Writing everything down in my planner helps me to stay organized and on top of my priorities.

Smart phones can be a great tool.  Putting in reminders is a great way to make sure everything gets done on time.

Go the library to do your homework. Seriously.  Cuts the time you would work on homework in half.  (Less distractions)

Use your school e-mail.  It is your best friend.  You can plan your whole year out on that thing (color coordinated too…!)

If you find that you can’t balance your time, ask for help.  You will have an advisor and a peer advisor. They can provide you with more resources as needed.

Also…don’t forget to make time for fun/working out/hanging out with friends, etc.  It will keep everyone happier.
