MyNorthwest Won’t Let Me Log In!!

The Time Has Come: You’re Status is EXPIRED!!

Having trouble logging into your MyNorthwest account? The answer may be simpler than you think.

Every 120 days or so, your Northwest password expires on our system. Here’s what that means:

  1. Your MyNorthwest account will not accept your login information
  2. You will not be able to log into any library database
  3. You will have issues logging into any Northwest computer connected to the campus network

With a few simple steps, these issues can be resolved. If your password is expired, and you attempt to log into your MyNorthwest account too many times, it will return and errant message stating that your credentials are wrong, your account has been locked, and that you need to contact the HelpDesk for further assistance. While this process may prove to be helpful for some, it is not always necessary.

Assuming that you have failed to log into your MyNorthwest account, you should follow the steps below:

  1. Try logging into your student e-mail account. Often times you will be able to log in without a problem.

Note: If this is the case, you can reasonably assume that your password is expired, and that you simply need to change it. (See steps below)

Important: If you are not able to log into your student e-mail, skip down to step 5.

  1. If you have successfully logged into your student e-mail account, access the Internet Service Manager via the aforementioned hyperlink or here to change your password on the network domain.

IMPORTANT: There are several ways to change your e-mail password, but this is the only known method of changing your password on the network. Even if you have changed your password in the last few days or weeks, the password may not have synced with our network properly and needs to be changed again.

  1. The Internet Service Manager will prompt you for bits of information that only the physical user should know. To fill out the form correctly:
  1. Insert your S# into the account line (ex., S654321).
  2. Add your existing password, the password you currently use to log into your student e-mail account, in the blank for “Old Password”.
  3. The final step, and usually the most difficult, is creating your new password. The new password must meet several criteria:
  • The password must contain at least 8 characters, but no more than 16
  • No combination, sequence, or series of a prior password may be used
    • For example: changing Northwest12 to Northwest13 will not work
    • Your new password may not contain any part of your personal name
    • While not required, we also strongly suggest that you add a special character, such as (!   .   _   etc.)
      • Please note that not all special characters are supported. We recommend that you use one of the above.
  1. Once all of the information has been submitted, make sure to click the OK” button at the bottom of the screen.

If all the steps above have been completed, a message stating, “Password Successfully Changed” will ensue.

  1. If after multiple attempts you still cannot get your password to change, contact the HelpDesk at: (660) 562-1634 for additional assistance, or stop by the first floor of the library and ask one of the TSAs, located at the rear of the computer lab, for assistance.
